About

Working with a founder or leaders of a family business system can be exciting and rewarding, but is also often very challenging. For the founders, owners and their employees – as well as their coaches and consultants.

A systemic perspective and method offers a respectful way to surface what’s held in the unconscious of these complex systems, clarify the dynamics and give place and dignity to all.

Founders are sometimes trying to attend to an unconscious need to belong, by creating a sense of ‘my family’. Others are caught up in a fight with a need to control everything. These and other deep patterns cause a number of challenging dynamics in the business that can be respectfully illuminated and softened through systemic intervention and constellations.

Difficulties with control, letting go and handing on to the next generation are distinctive challenges and common patterns in a family business too. As the system ages, the original energy or intention can become less clear or energising. There is very often also a need to address the question: who and what has priority, the family or the business?
The two-and-a-half-day will ensure a powerful introduction to this layered topic, as well as offering opportunities to explore particular issues connected to a founder-led or family business system you are in or work with as a coach or consultant. Expect fresh knowledge, new insights and lots of embodied, experiential learning.

Facilitator

This workshop will be facilitated by John Whittington, founder of Coaching Constellations and author of “Systemic Coaching & Constellations”, with the support of his team in France, Corinne Devery et Astrid Judmaier

The Workshop

This two-and-a-half-day training course offers an in-depth look at systemic coaching for founders and/or family businesses. The workshop is aimed at those who already have some experience with systemic coaching using constellations. It is necessary to have completed at least the training “Fundamentals I – Mapping the Field” or equivalent.

You can register a client you are coaching for the second day (Friday) to explore a theme through systemic constellation work in a group, facilitated by John. In this case, it is important that you have already begun developing your client’s systemic awareness, e.g. through mapping and constellation work using figurines.

The workshop will offer you an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the key patterns found in founder-led and family business systems
  • Find your place with a specific founder or family business so you can stand in your authority and make a difference
  • Learn exercises designed to support clarity of role and place for founders and family businesses
  • Be a part of constellations as a client and as a representative.
  • Help one of your clients with a complex topic that presents repetitive challenges through systemic group constellation work facilitated by John.

Note: This workshop will be delivered in English by John Whittington. Corinne Devery and Astrid Judmaier will translate into French from time to time when necessary.
